IMEKO FOODS |
The University of Sannio is organizing, with the Technical Committee 23 “Metrology in Food and Nutrition” of the International Measurement Confederation - IMEKO, the 2nd IMEKOFOODS “Metrology Promoting Objective and Measurable Food Quality and Safety”, which will take place in Benevento (Italy) on 2nd - 5th October 2016.
The general objective is to promote the discussion, the scientific debate and the encounter between the different realities that revolve around the "world of measures", promoting harmonization and integration and addressing the "world of research" to the emerging needs of the civil society and the productive sectors.
TOPICS |
Tools for Food Metrology
- metrological traceability
- measurement uncertainty
- reference materials
- new methods and devices
- method validation
Emerging fields of Metrology in Food and Nutrition
- authenticity and traceability of raw materials and products
- emerging contaminants
- early detection and pre-screening
- nutraceuticals and bioactive substances
- packaging and food contact materials
- sensory analysis and organoleptic properties
- nanotechnologies and nanoparticles
- non-targeted methods and chemometrics
- food composition databases and exposure predictive models
PARALLEL EVENT |
A parallel event on EU Research Infrastructures and networks supporting research in food and nutrition is aimed at promoting the discussion and the exchange of experiences among the existing networks and Research Infrastructures (ESFRI landmarks, active projects and emerging projects) engaged in the "Health & Food" domain.
SPECIAL SESSIONS |
The IMEKOFOODS 2015 Program Committee solicits proposals for Special Sessions within the technical scopes of the Conference.
Special sessions have the main aim of creating a mini-workshop on a specific topic, where researchers working on the same argument can make knowledge, familiarize, exchange ideas, create cooperation.

A specific session dedicated to metrology for food composition analyses "Food Composition Data - how do we assess quality?" will be organized in cooperation with EUROFIR.
A special session is focused on the Italian National Cluster “Agrifood”. The new roadmap will be presented and some results obtained from the ongoing projects will be discussed.
PUBLICATION |
The fullpapers will be collected in the Proceedings, included in the conference kit. The proceedings will be indexed.
A selection of papers actually presented at the Conference will be considered for publication in the Journals:
- Measurement (Elsevier) - 10 papers in a special issue dedicated to 2nd IMEKOFOODS
- Food Chemistry (Elsevier) - 10 papers
- Journal of Food Composition and Analysis (Elsevier) - 10 papers
- ACTA IMEKO (IMEKO) - 10 papers in a special issue dedicated to 2nd IMEKOFOODS
For each Journal, the papers will be selected by an ad hoc Committee in agreement with the Journal Editorial Board. In all cases, it is mandatory that the papers will be expanded versions of what was actually presented at the Conference. The selection process will be done at the end of the Conference and authors will be contacted and asked about their willingness to expand and submit the presented research results. Then, all the articles will have to be submitted for publication in the respective Journal and will be subjected to the usual review process of the Journal itself.
